2022-09-01 The art of resting
Resting is an artform.
In todays society we don't value or reflect on it enough.
We tend to get burned out. Or perhaps we fear the body's need for rest and fear resting itself to such a degree that we interpret the tiredness signals as something negative.
The phrase "burned out", has a negative connotation, when it perhaps should be substituted by something that indicates a healthy respons to induce balance.
We need to understand and learn more about the resting paradigms and it's essentials.
Sleep being the most obvious one perhaps. But on other levels as well.
Resting more than one day. Keeping a low activity level. Resting from the typical stimulus.
Perhaps resting from certain types of thinking?
And focusing on active recovery, exercising the "recovery muscles" like patience, introspection, being aware, being present, being mindful, taking time for paus, being curious of the world and reflecting and getting to know your self and others.
What is it you want to do?
How do you want to do things?
What matters to you?
Perhaps, what doesn't matter to you, and let that go, in your mind.
Be kind to yourself, and to those around you.
Seek harmony and joy.
Or accept the pain and realise it is fleeting. It shall pass. Joy and sorrow and all in between and outside will come and go. Everything is transient and ever changing. Enjoy it while it lasts.
This state of limbo, can be frustrating, when you fight it.
But when you find peace, you will find meaning, direction and a path.
Although uncertain and every changing this path is a present state where every moment holds possibilities to those who go in to presence with it and find joy and flow and momentum in this state of existence.
To get this a good method to start with is meditation.
The rest is just life itself.
Life has a tendency to get to you, regardless of where you are, unless you are dead.
