Health tip of the day - Sharing is caring

 What is your guilty pleasure?

 Mine is macadamia nuts.

I know, not that bad, but anything good thing has a limit of too much.

In my case I love these 65g perfectly salted macadamia nuts bags. I could easily eat two if I don't watch  it.

Macadamia nuts, by themselves, are great. A good amount of monounsaturated fats, low in carbs, low in amino acids (Good to perserve semi fasted state, in smaller quantities).

They are even included in the food product Prolon (at least as it was formulated 2020),  the fasting mimicking product created from the research on fasting mimicking, from Walter Longos research.

Macadamia nuts works well as a ketogenic food. But as those of us aware calories of certain foods, it gets pretty obvious that it is easier to overeat on fats than on protein or carbs on a ketogenic diet.

But now to the point.

In excess, macadamia nuts take up too much space of your days nutrition. Moderation is important.

So when I open my 65 gram macadamia nut package, I do this mindfully.

I decide that I will not eat them all in one go. I will save at least half the package, so I have more room in my daily nutrition for other nutritious foods.

When I do this with most of my "week spot" foods, I notice a positive effect on my overall energy, productivity, sleep and health. Actually I can see this when I measure my blood sugar during the day and when I measure my HR (heart rate) and HRV (heart rate variability).

HR is lower when I do this right. HRV is higher (I measure with Ouraring during sleep).

The best way to achieve moderation that I enjoy the most is sharing.

I share my macadamia nuts with my loved ones - my kids, my wife. That way we all get moderation and share something we love. Sharing is caring. Moderation by sharing works!

Another aspect of this is. I would never share my bad habits with those I love.

Not even my self (I know, a paradox). Learn to love yourself!

I do believe in macadamia nuts as healthy food in moderation. So I feel good about sharing something that I believe is healthy especially since sharing by itself means less for every one, hence no over-consumption as a consequence.

So find your habits that needs moderation.

Don't share the bad ones even with yourself and share the good ones that needs moderation with others that you care about. If you care about every one. Share with them.

Stay healthy!
